For over a century, Kabarole Hospital C.O.U has been a beacon of healing. Founded in 1903, we are Uganda’s third oldest Missionary hospital.

Our mission is holistic: promoting health in spirit, body, and soul. We are proven leaders, achieving a dramatic 75% reduction in maternal mortality.

From Mission Roots to Modern Care

Kabarole Hospital C.O.U, situated in Fort Portal City along Kasese Road, Western Uganda, possesses a rich and resilient history, serving as Uganda’s third oldest Missionary hospital, established in 1903 second to Mengo Hospital Kampala. Founded by the Church Missionary Society (CMS) following an investigative trip by Dr. Albert Cook and Bishop Tucker, the hospital was initially set up by Dr. Ashton Bonde in a simple structure. Operating today as a Private Not For Profit (PNFP) facility under the governance of the Anglican Church of Uganda, Diocese of Ruwenzori , Kabarole Hospital C.O.U is dedicated to a holistic mission: "To Improve Life, promote health as we envisage the whole person with a soul, body and spirit and to accord due diligence to the disadvantaged and less privileged". For over a century, this commitment has guided Kabarole Hospital C.O.U in providing essential and specialized medical services to the people of the Tooro region and historically serving a patient base extending into the DRC, Rwanda, and Tanzania
